Baptism is a celebration of people professing faith in Jesus and showing the change He is making in their lives. It is an act of obedience that symbolizes the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior. Baptism also pictures the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. Baptism identifies the person with Christ, following His example, and it is a testimony to his or her faith in the final resurrection of the dead.
