Devotion – Philippians 4

There is a book out titled, Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.  This chapter could be titled, “Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Philippians 4.”  Paul gives us a list of attitudes and actions, that if we were to implement them in life daily, our lives would be full of Jesus, joy, and of His life.  In Philippians 4:4-13, these verses are packed with short, but very practical comments on how to have that joyous life.  Rather than writing a lengthy devotion on the meaning of these verses, I want you to do the work this time.   Write down each phrase and then think and meditate on it.  For each phrase come up with a practical way you could apply the idea to your life on a daily basis.  I’ll help with the first one…

Action

“Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)

Application

Start to make it a habit to wake up each morning and think of reasons to rejoice about the coming day.  Include rejoicing for God’s provision the previous day and for the hopes of the coming one.

Now, add your own applications, and keep going.
