Wrote a post yesterday encouraging us to know a little bit about Juneteenth and also asking us to consider prayer and fasting this Friday for justice and racial reconciliation to honor that day. This post is to give us a couple ways we can enter into prayer for these issues. I also want to remind you that I plan on being at the church office parking lot at 8 AM this Friday to pray, and would love to have many of you join me. If you can’t use both of these during the day to pray. The first is a prayer guide for a time of prayer. The second is a video prayer of lament from United? We Pray – an organization calling the church to pray for and lament over the struggle for racial reconciliation.
My plan is to do a morning fast. I will meet at the office at 8 and use the Prayer Guide posted here to pray with you. If you can’t make it to the office, spend time using the guide to pray. I plan to watch the video later in the day, joining with those who pray on the video with my prayers.
The final thing I would encourage you to do is to take time tomorrow reaching out to black and brown skinned friends, neighbors, and Christian brothers and sisters to encourage them, and let them know you are praying for them. Send a text or email, give them a call, or send them a note.
