May is prayer month at Genesis. OK, so every month should be prayer month, but during May we intentionally seek to get our people involved in prayer in multiple ways. We do this because we believe God works in our lives through prayer and He acts as a response to our prayers. This is an amazing mystery, the God who is sovereign and has ordained all that will come to pass somehow responds to our prayer as the means by which He acts. Prayer changes us as we seek God, worship Him, give thanks, repent, and make our requests made known to Him.
One of the ways we want to involve our entire church and any friends of Genesis in prayer is by providing the Genesis Prayer Journal. This 31 day devotional prayer experience was written by people from Genesis and compiled by our Genesis Prayer Team as they reflect on their prayer lives, consider Scriptures, and give some thoughts on prayer. And each day then uses the acrostic PRAY to guide you through a time of prayer.
P – Praise, prayer focused on praise for the character of God and giving thanks for His work in your life
R – Repent, including confession of sin, contrition, and turning from sin
A – Ask, making requests known to God, including your own personal requests, but also praying for God to save people, send workers into the harvest, praying for the persecuted church, for the salvation of the nations, and for our governmental leaders
Y – Yield, submitting myself to the will of God in prayer, following the model set by Jesus by declaring, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
So here is the challenge. Download the prayer journal and join us for 31 days of intentional prayer. Will you take the challenge?
