Really awesome of Desiring God to make these biography books available free on their website. Great stories. I just began reading the one on John Paton, it is so inspiring, challenging, and amazing to see a man who was used by God to reach cannibals with the Gospel. In reading, I was reminded of one of his great quotes, given in response to opposition of his going to the New Heberdes to do missions, being told he would be eaten by cannibals.
“Mr. Dickson, you are advanced in years now, and your own prospect is soon to be laid in the grave, there to be eaten by worms; I confess to you, that if I can but live and die serving and honoring the Lord Jesus, it will make no difference to me whether I am eaten by Cannibals or by worms; and in the Great Day my resurrection body will arise as fair as yours in the likeness of our risen Redeemer.”
