Suggested Resources for End Times Study

If you have been in church for any period of time, you know that people can get consumed in their attempt to understand prophetic ideas and eschatology (the study of the end times).  Way to many times people choose teams on the issues without thoroughly researching other points of view.  Let me encourage you to realize that within Christianity there are incredible theologians who are godly people who disagree on their view of the Millennial reign of Jesus and other issues such as the Rapture, Tribulation, and the Day of the Lord.  Most of the time we choose our team and then read books (including novels) that come from that viewpoint.  My encouragement to you, whether you have at some point in time done an extensive study or if this discussion is completely new to you, is to look at the various viewpoints so that you can understand the Biblical arguments for each position and form your approach.  So here are a few suggested resources that I used in my study this past week.

Four Views of the Millennium – This book has a chapter written by four theologians, each holding a differing view of the Millennium (Historic Premellinnialism, Dispensationalism, Post-Millennialism, A-Millennialism).  After each chapter the other three authors write critiques on the chapter.

Revelation: Four Views, A Commentary The New Testament book of Revelation contains the largest amount of content on this chapter, but also is the source of much of the debate.  As a commentary, this book has four different people write thoughts on every passage of Revelation.  Good for comparison of the differing views side by side with the text of Scripture.
